The Commonwealth Games 2026 official results website caused confusion on Monday after listing India’s Tejaswin Shankar as DNS for the men’s high jump final, even as the live telecast showed him at Scotstoun Stadium and ready to compete.
The incorrect status had initially suggested that India’s representation in the final had been reduced from three athletes to two. However, Shankar was seen alongside Sarvesh Kushare and J Aadarsh Ram, confirming that the DNS entry was an error on the official platform.
Shankar began his campaign at the opening height of 2.05m but failed to clear the bar on his first attempt. After landing on the mat, the Indian was seen struggling and appeared to be in discomfort. He withdrew from the competition shortly afterwards, bringing his high jump final to a premature end.

There was no immediate official update on the nature of the problem or whether it could affect his participation in the decathlon later in the Games.
Shankar entered the competition as the defending bronze medallist, having become the first Indian to win a Commonwealth Games medal in the men’s high jump at Birmingham 2022.
The 27-year-old has enjoyed a strong 2026 season in combined events. He won the Asian Indoor Championships heptathlon title in February with an Indian record of 5,993 points before becoming the first Indian to cross the 8,000-point mark in the decathlon, setting a national record of 8,057 points at the Federation Cup in Ranchi in May.
Earlier on Monday, Gyaneshwari Yadav won silver in the women’s 53kg weightlifting event, while Bindyarani Devi secured bronze in the women’s 58kg category.
