The Delhi Government will start distribution of 1.3 lakh free cycles to girl students in class IX from the end of this month, according to officials.
The government has completed the procurement process and it is planning the distribution now, the official said.
Presenting the annual budget in March, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta had announced ₹90 crore for the distribution of free bicycles to 1.3 lakh ninth-grade girls in government schools to curb school dropouts.
“The government plans to continue to scheme in the coming years and give bicycles to 1.3 lakh class IX girl students every academic year,” the official said.
