A Delhi Police constable allegedly shot his wife dead with his service revolver on a road in east Delhi before fleeing the spot, police said on Monday.

According to the preliminary investigation, the couple had left their home together on a scooter on Sunday. When they reached near LBS Hospital, an argument reportedly broke out between them over an unspecified issue.

The two got off the scooter and continued arguing. As the dispute escalated, the constable allegedly pulled out his service revolver and shot his wife before fleeing the scene on the scooter.

An autorickshaw driver passing by noticed the woman lying injured on the roadside and immediately rushed her to LBS Hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead.

The entire incident was captured on a nearby CCTV camera, and police have launched a search to trace the accused.
