A team of Town and Country Planning Department led by District Town Planner Rajesh Kumar carried out a demolition drive in an unauthorised colony being developed in revenue estate of Ghespur village falling under Radaur sub-division of Yamunanagar district.
The team removed unpaved roads and sewerage networks from this illegal colony, which was being developed on about one acre of land.
District Town Planner (DTP) Rajesh Kumar said that the said unauthorised colony was being developed within the Radaur Urban Area. “Demolition action was initiated against this illegal colony with the help of the district administration. On the order of Deputy Commissioner Preeti, our team carried out the demolition drive,” said Rajesh Kumar.
He said that Veterinary Surgeon Dr Nitin Raheja from Animal Husbandry Department was appointed as the duty magistrate to maintain law and order and the SHO of Haryana State Enforcement Bureau, Yamunanagar and SHO, Radaur police station, along with their teams, were present at the site during the demolition.
Kumar further said that notices were issued to the defaulters as per rules under the Urban Area Act Number 8 of 1975 but the defaulters did not comply with the departmental orders.
He said that the landowners did not take necessary permission before establishing the illegal colony, hence demolition action was taken.
He said that no one should purchase or sell any plots in any illegal colony. “If anyone is found establishing an illegal colony, action will be taken against them,” he said.
