Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka has said that the government’s concrete actions reflect its unwavering commitment to increasing farmers’ incomes and making agriculture profitable.
He said the Congress government had created history by directly crediting ₹9,000 crore into farmers’ bank accounts under the Rythu Bharosa scheme in just nine days.
Mr. Vikramarka, along with Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao, inaugurated a mega Rythu Mela at Jagannadhapuram in Chintakani mandal of Khammam district on Thursday.
The event was organised ahead of the Rythu Ashirvada Sabha, to be addressed by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy at Jagannadhapuram on Friday.
He said farmers’ welfare and agricultural development remain the government’s top priorities, with thousands of crores being invested in irrigation, agriculture, paddy procurement, MARKFED activities and other farmer-centric initiatives.
He hit out at the Opposition parties, accusing them of spreading false propaganda, and said they had no moral right to speak about farmers’ welfare.
Criticising the previous BRS regime, he alleged that it had spent the State’s resources on the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP), whose present condition is visible to everyone.
The irrigation projects built by the earlier Congress governments’ decades ago are still intact and continue to provide irrigation to farmers, he said referring to the Nagarjunasagar, Sriramsagar and Kadem projects.
Mr. Vikramarka said the Rythu Ashirvada Sabha is being organised to showcase the Congress government’s flagship initiatives and new projects aimed at making agriculture-dependent districts greener and prosperous.
