New Delhi: Ajay Devgn’s Dhamaal 4 registered healthy growth at the box office on its second day despite receiving mixed reviews from critics and audiences. Released on July 10, the fourth instalment of the popular comedy franchise witnessed a significant jump in collections, strengthening its opening weekend.
After opening with Rs 14 crore net on Friday across 10,669 shows, the film recorded a sharp rise in business on Saturday. According to trade tracker Sacnilk, Dhamaal 4 collected Rs 22.50 crore net from 10,953 shows on day two, marking a 60.7 per cent increase over its opening-day earnings. The film’s total India net collection now stands at Rs 36.50 crore after two days.
The film has narrowed the gap with Welcome To The Jungle, which earned Rs 20 crore net on its second day and had collected Rs 39 crore in India after two days.
Dhamaal 4 has comfortably outperformed Ajay Devgn’s recent releases.
However, the film is still trailing its predecessor, Total Dhamaal. Released in 2019, the third instalment collected Rs 20.40 crore on its second day and went on to finish its theatrical run with a lifetime India net collection of Rs 155.67 crore.
While Dhamaal 4 has shown encouraging early growth, it still has considerable ground to cover before matching the franchise’s biggest box-office success.
Directed by Indra Kumar, Dhamaal 4 is produced by T-Series Films, Panorama Studios, Devgn Films, Maruti International and Anand Pandit Motion Pictures. The film reunites an ensemble cast featuring Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh, Jaaved Jaaferi, Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra, Upendra Limaye, Anjali Anand, Sanjeeda Sheikh, Esha Gupta and Vijay Patkar.
The makers have also teased the future of the franchise, with a post-credit scene reportedly confirming that Dhamaal 5 is already in development, with Farhad Samji attached as the writer.
