The Nilgiris district collector inspected ongoing project works and functioning of several offices at Hubbathalai in Coonoor, the Nilgiris, on Thursday (July 23, 2026).
“The government is implementing numerous development projects in municipalities, town panchayats and village panchayats across the Nilgiris for the benefit of the public. As part of this, District Collector Lakshmi Bhavya Tanneeru carried out a detailed field inspection of ongoing works and reviewed the functioning of several public institutions,” the Nilgiris district administration said.
During the inspection, the collector visited the Hubbathalai village panchayat office and examined official records and registers, while she also reviewed the implementation of various schemes. The collector also visited the local fair price shop and verified stock registers and availability of essential commodities and their quality.
The district administration said that Ms. Tanneeru also inspected the local anganwadi center, where children’s attendance, height and weight records, nutritional food supplies and the overall functioning of the center was checked.
At the local primary health centre, medical services provided to patients, drug availability, quality of medical services available to patients and maintenance of records were checked, while officials were also directed to ensure proper segregation, collection and scientific disposal of biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste at the solid waste management centre.
The collector also reviewed the functioning of the boys higher secondary school hostel, constructed recently at a cost of ₹9.5 lakh. “As part of the visit, she also inspected government hostels for students functioning in the Coonoor region. She reviewed accommodation, food arrangements, and welfare measures available to resident students and interacted with them regarding the facilities provided,” the district administration said.
