Minister for Energy Resources and Law R. Nirmalkumar said on Wednesday (July 8, 2026) that both the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) are diminishing day by day, and a situation will arise where they will be left with a handful of members.
“The (State) government machinery is functioning full-fledged for the people. All the efforts made by the DMK and the AIADMK with the intention of capturing power have failed and they are diminishing day by day...The people of Tamil Nadu are rejecting them and supporting us to that extent,” said the Minister, after presiding over the convocation ceremony at the Government Law College in Coimbatore.
Stating that an official announcement regarding arrangements for the Chief Minister’s visit to Karur will be released soon, Mr. Nirmalkumar asked why the DMK was afraid of the Chief Minister going to Karur, referring to the setback faced by the party from the Supreme Court on a plea filed by its organising secretary R.S. Bharathi and subsequent representation to the CBI.
