Having joined the New York Mets in 2021, Francisco Lindor has established himelf as one of the team's most influential players. Only a few months after he joined via a trade from the Cleveland Indians (now Guardians), he agreed to a ten-year, $341 million contract extension.

In the years since, Lindor has enjoyed some iconic moments in a Mets jersey, most memorably his game-winning grand-slam against the Philadelphia Phillies that allowed the team to clinch an NLCS spot in 2024.

The 2026 season, unfortunately, has not gone to plan for the shortstop. Struggling for both consistency and fitness, Lindor is batting .220 with six home runs and 15 RBIs, while the Mets occupy last place in the NL East with a 42-58 record.

Amidst all the doom and gloom, Lindor celebrated a huge career milestone on Sunday, as he recorded his 1700th career hit during a 6-1 win against the Phillies.

Soon after the game was over, the Mets' Instagram handle posted to celebrate the win. Legendary slugger Darryl Strawberry left a comment on the post, offering encouraging words of support in what has otherwise been a challenging season.

In addition to his milestone hit, Francisco Lindor enjoyed a productive day at the plate overall. He also recorded two more hits, a home run and a total of three RBIs.

As he finds himself in the midst of a challenging season, Francisco Lindor has often come under fire from fans and critics alike. Speaking to SNY's Chelsea Janes on Sunday, the infielder responded to his critics with a blunt statement.

With the Mets tipped to sell heavily at this year's trade deadline, there is also an outside chance that we see Francisco Lindor plying his trade elsewhere in the second half of the season.
