The Goondas Act has been invoked against a drug peddler, who was arrested with 4 kg of ganja in June this year.

According to the police, the detainee has been identified as J. Stephen Raj, 26, of Reddiyarpalayam in Puducherry. The police arrested him with the contraband at Chinna Kottakuppam in Villupuram district on June 24.

Acting on the recommendations of the Villupuram District Superintendent of Police S. Madhivanan, District Collector Sheik Abdul Rahman invoked the provisions of the Goondas Act against him. The orders were served in the Cuddalore Central Prison.
