A federation of DSC-2003 teachers, police personnel and employees’ unions thanked Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for restoring the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) at a meeting held near Mangalagiri on Sunday.

The participants expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for scrapping the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) and extending the benefits of the OPS to about 11,000 teachers, employees and police personnel.

Presiding over the meeting, federation coordinator K. L. Srinath said it was heartening that the State government had restored the OPS in accordance with Memo No. 57 issued by the Centre.

Rajya Sabha member Bhashyam Ramakrishna said Mr. Naidu had consistently adopted a positive approach towards resolving employees’ issues, and the restoration of the OPS reflected that commitment.

MLCs Alapati Rajendra Prasad, Vepada Chiranjeevi and Kancharla Srikanth said the OPS would provide social security to employees after retirement.

Former MLCs Paruchuri Ashok Babu and A. S. Ramakrishna, BJP leader Valluri Jayaprakash Narayan and others addressed the gathering.
