The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday extended the schedule for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Haryana by 10 days. The final electoral rolls after the revision exercise will now be published on October 3, 2026, instead of September 22.
Under the revised schedule, the house-to-house verification by Booth Level Officers (BLOs), which was originally scheduled from June 15 to July 14, will continue until July 24.
Consequently, the draft electoral rolls will now be published on July 31, replacing the earlier date of July 21.
The period for filing claims and objections against the draft rolls has also been revised. Electors will be able to submit claims and objections from July 31 to August 30, while their disposal will take place between July 31 and September 28.
The final publication of Haryana’s electoral rolls following the SIR exercise is scheduled for October 3.
The Election Commission said the revised timeline will also apply to Andhra Pradesh, which was following the same electoral roll rationalisation schedule as Haryana.
The third phase of the SIR exercise is currently underway across 16 states and three Union Territories. The exercise has already been completed in 10 states and three Union Territories during the first two phases.
Meanwhile, the combined voter base of Mizoram, Odisha, Manipur and Sikkim has declined by nearly 22 lakh following the publication of draft electoral rolls last week. The total electorate in these four states has reduced from 3.68 crore to 3.46 crore.
Odisha recorded the highest reduction, with 20.11 lakh voters removed from the rolls during the revision process.
