Andhra Pradesh Endowments Commissioner K. Ramachandra Mohan on Thursday (July 9, 2026) said the State government is committed to comprehensive development of Kanaka Durga temple atop Indrakeeladri, with priority being given to improving facilities and services for devotees. He instructed the officials to submit the draft Master Plan for the comprehensive development of Indrakeeladri by July 15.

Mr. Ramachandra Mohan, along with Temple Trust Board Chairman Borra Radhakrishna (Gandhi) and senior officials, inspected the construction of the new kitchen (Potu) and Annadanam complex atop Indrakeeladri.

He directed the temple authorities to ensure that the new laddu preparation facility and the Annadanam building are completed and operational before the commencement of the month of Sravana.

Expressing displeasure over the slow pace of work, the Commissioner questioned engineering officials over the delay despite repeated inspections and instructions. He ordered them to work in multiple shifts to complete the projects well ahead of the Dasara Navaratri festival.

He stressed that there would be no compromise on construction quality and warned officials against wastage of time and public funds. The Commissioner reviewed flooring works and selected the colour scheme for the new kitchen building.

Inspecting the Annadanam complex, he reiterated that every aspect of the project should directly benefit devotees and be executed to the highest standards. He said the new facilities should be fully functional during the Dasara festivities, with prasadam preparation shifted to the new kitchen and free meal distribution conducted from the new Annadanam building.

The Commissioner also took exception to the operation of commercial establishments beneath the elevated queue complex. Noticing cool drink stalls, a cloakroom and other commercial activities in the area, he directed temple officials to remove them immediately.

He said the space beneath the queue complex was created exclusively for the convenience of devotees and should not be used for commercial purposes. “Every inch of land on Indrakeeladri should be utilised only for devotees and their convenience,” he said.

Deputy Executive Officer Kishore Babu, Executive Engineer Rama, Assistant Commissioner Rangarao and engineering officials of the temple accpmpanied the Endowments Commissioner.
