England and Argentina will meet at the Atlanta Stadium on Wednesday to determine which team faces Spain in the final of the FIFA World Cup later this week.
Both teams come into the fixture after hard-fought wins in the quarterfinals but England holds the edge in terms of head-to-head record. Out of the five times these teams have faced each other, England has won three while Argentina has won two.
The last meeting between these sides came way back in 2002, during the group stage, when David Beckham’s penalty got England the three points and eventually led to Argentina exiting before the knockouts.
Argentina will turn to its 1986 title win for inspiration, having beaten the Three Lions 2-1 in the final courtesy of a Diego Maradona brace.
