Indiana Fever's Chief Operating Officer and General Manager, Amber Cox, slammed a Caitlin Clark fan. On Thursday, Cox appreciated the fans for supporting Indiana in an X post following the Fever's 92-89 road win over the Phoenix Mercury.
A Clark fan retweeted Cox's post and took a jab at Indy's general manager.
Cox clapped back at the fan in the post's comments section:
The Fever rested Caitlin Clark in Thursday's road game. The star guard has been on and off the court because of a recurring back injury. She last played in Indiana's 106-92 loss to the LA Sparks on Wednesday. Clark played only 16 minutes in that game, finishing with nine points, four rebounds and three assists.
Indiana managed to do well without their star guard against Phoenix. Kelsey Mitchell and Aliyah Boston stepped up their game in Clark's absence. Mitchell led the scoring charts with 29 points and eight assists, while Boston recorded 21 points and nine rebounds.
Following Indiana's win over the Mercury, Outkick reporter Jon Root interviewed a Caitlin Clark fan in public. Root asked the fan for her thoughts on Alyssa Thomas' flagrant 2 foul on the Fever star in a 111-109 loss to the Mercury on June 24.
Caitlin Clark is undoubtedly one of the biggest stars in women's basketball. However, she has been dealing with increased physicality this season. Thomas' foul on her is one of the most-talked-about fouls this season.
The Mercury guard had her fist on Clark's throat during a play. The incident happened in the second quarter of the game. Clark drove to the basketball but crashed to the floor after meeting Lexi Held halfway. Thomas lunged at Clark to steal the ball, but ended up putting her fist on Caitlin Clark.
