The phone of Pratibha Singh, former president of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee (HPCC), has been hacked, with fraudsters allegedly seeking money by impersonating her. Following the incident, her son and Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Vikramaditya Singh shared a post on Facebook urging people not to respond to any calls or messages from her phone. He said the hacker was demanding money from people using her identity.
The minister said a complaint had been lodged with the concerned officer in the police department's Cyber Cell.
Cybercrime has been on the rise in Himachal Pradesh, with the Cyber Cell receiving around 250 to 300 complaints every day over the past couple of years.
