Former Minister Sanakkayala Aruna on Monday (July 13, 2026) alleged that she was unable to find her voter verification details for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls process. She questioned the effectiveness of the exercise, which concludes on July 14.

After submitting a representation to District Collector M. Sai Kanth Varma, Ms. Aruna stated that she did not receive a satisfactory response from the electoral verification staff when she sought clarification. “If a former Minister is unable to ensure her own vote, then what about ordinary voters?” she questioned, urging the district administration to examine the issue and ensure that eligible voters do not face inconvenience. She said that she had been casting her vote for the last forty years and demanded that she should have her rights.

Meanwhile, the election authorities refuted reports that her vote was missing. Guntur Municipal Corporation Commissioner and Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) for Guntur East Assembly constituency K. Mayur Ashok clarified that Ms. Aruna's name continues to figure in the electoral roll of Kothapet under Part No. 109 at Serial No. 474. He said her EPIC details remain valid and the voter enumeration form has already been digitised as part of the ongoing revision process.

The ERO also appealed to the public not to be misled by reports circulating on social media and reiterated that no eligible voter's name would be deleted from the electoral rolls. He advised voters with doubts regarding their enrolment or the SIR process to approach the concerned Booth Level Officer (BLO), Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) or the election wing of the Guntur Municipal Corporation for clarification.
