Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Commissioner Ketan Garg on Thursday directed officials to initiate the expansion of the road between Endada and Panorama Hills to a 60-foot width, in line with the city’s master plan. The initiative is aimed at enabling easier traffic flow and improved infrastructure connectivity in the Madhurawada zone.

Mr. Garg, accompanied by Madhurawada Zonal Commissioner Ayyappa Naidu, surveyed the stretch earmarked for development by the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA).

The Commissioner instructed the Assistant City Planner to conduct a comprehensive survey of the stretch. He emphasised the need for a transparent approach in identifying properties that would be affected by the expansion.

“Officials must conduct a thorough study to document the exact number of government and private structures, as well as vacant plots, that fall within the proposed alignment. The survey must include a rigorous verification of property titles, ownership documents, and other relevant records to ensure clarity and avoid future disputes,” Mr. Garg stated.

Beyond the technical assessment, the Commissioner stressed the importance of community engagement. He directed officials to conduct outreach programs to explain the benefits of the infrastructure project to the property owners whose assets might be impacted.

“It is essential to create awareness among the affected stakeholders regarding the long-term benefits of this road expansion for the city’s development,” he added.

Town Planning Officer Tejeswara Rao and other municipal officials attended the inspection. The GVMC aims to expedite the procedural requirements to facilitate the expansion, which is viewed as a crucial step toward alleviating congestion and upgrading the civic infrastructure in the growing Madhurawada corridor.
