Mr. Pawan Kalyan underwent surgery on July 11 for a right shoulder rotator cuff injury. In a statement on Sunday (July 12, 2026), the hospital said the injury comprised an extensive tear of the supraspinatus and infraspinatus tendons with an associated avulsion fracture of the greater tuberosity bone.

The hospital said he underwent a successful arthroscopic repair on July 11, performed by Dinshaw Pardiwala, Director, Arthroscopy and Shoulder Service. “The surgery was uneventful and he is comfortable and recovering well,” it said. After a period of rest, he would undergo a structured shoulder rehabilitation programme, with full recovery of shoulder function expected over the next four months, the hospital added.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu called on Mr. Pawan Kalyan at the same hospital on Sunday (July 12, 2026) enquired about his condition and wished him a speedy recovery.

Addressing the media later, Mr. Naidu said he had advised Mr. Pawan Kalyan to take adequate rest and not be in a hurry to resume his duties, as doctors had prescribed physiotherapy for three weeks and his left shoulder had to be examined after six months.

Mr. Naidu said the surgery on the right shoulder was successful and had taken more than three hours, as the injury was quite serious. Whether the left shoulder injury could be cured through physiotherapy would be decided after a detailed assessment, he said. He was accompanied by Ministers P. Narayana and Anagani Satya Prasad, and was received at the hospital by Minister Nadendla Manohar and Rajya Sabha member Lingamaneni Ramesh.
