A farmer of Elakkurichi near Thirumanur ended his life on Wednesday due to harassment by collection agents of a private bank.
The police said Govindaraj took a milch animal loan of ₹3 lakh from the bank in January. He paid five monthly instalments and could not pay this month. Following this, the bank’s collection agents allegedly harassed him. Govindaraj recorded a video on his cell phone narrating the events and took the extreme step. The Thirumanur police have registered a case against four persons.
