The Erode district Collector S. Kandasamy has urged farmers, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), cooperative societies and agri entrepreneurs to avail themselves of loans under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF) scheme.
The scheme, launched in 2020-21, aims to reduce post-harvest losses and improve farmers’ income by creating modern agricultural infrastructure. Loans are available to set up warehouses, packing units, grading and quality assessment facilities, cold storage units, transport infrastructure, primary processing centres, scientific fruit-ripening chambers and supply chain facilities linked to e-markets.
The scheme also covers infrastructure for organic input production, precision farming, export-oriented crop clusters and community agricultural projects. Farmers who take loans up to ₹2 crore are eligible for a 3% interest subvention for seven years, with credit guarantee support available for eligible borrowers.
For details, contact Agricultural Officers P. Abinaya (88833 68510), V. Suganya (87785 93957) or N.T. Brinda (99528 84821), the release stated.
