The TQL Stadium in Ohio sets the stage as MLS action returns, with FC Cincinnati welcoming Western Conference leaders Vancouver Whitecaps in an exciting clash on Wednesday. Major League Soccer has been on a break during the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

FC Cincinnati kick things off once again as they sit seventh in the Eastern Conference standings and 15th overall, with 20 points from 15 games.

At this stage of the season, the Orange and Blue are in the playoff spots, but they are already 16 points behind log leaders Nashville on 36 points.

FC Cincinnati's most recent MLS game was a 6-2 home win against Orlando City at the end of May, and in a friendly match on 11 July, Pat Noonan's men continued their winning momentum with a 3-1 victory over English club Burnley.

Josh Laurent's strike for Burnley was canceled out by goals from Kristian Fletcher, Ayoub Jabbari, and Kevin Denkey.

Meanwhile, Vancouver Whitecaps have been flying high in the Western Conference, topping the standings with 32 points from 14 games, tied with San Jose, but with a game in hand.

In terms of the overall table, Vancouver are in second place, four points away from league leaders Nashville, but once again, the Canadian side have played a game fewer than the team above them.

    The Caps..

Coach Jesper Sorensen has done an excellent job of keeping the Canadian side in the fight for top honors thus far, and they will hope to continue their positive form after the break with a good result away to Cincinnati this week.

Vancouver have scored 34 goals and conceded only 12 in their opening 14 games, proving their defensive solidity and ability to score goals against most opponents.

Meanwhile, Cincinnati have struggled with inconsistency in the American top flight, and they are expected to lose at home in this fixture.

Prediction: FC Cincinnati 1-2 Vancouver Whitecaps

Tip 1: Vancouver Whitecaps to win

Tip 2: Both teams to score

    Tip 3: Over 2.5 goals
