Michael Olise's yellow card will not be overturned ahead of France's FIFA World Cup quarter-final clash against Morocco. FIFA has announced that he will have to play with the risk of a potential suspension in the semi-finals.

Les Bleus are set to face Morocco in the quarter-finals in Boston on Thursday, July 9. However, Michael Olise is on a yellow card, having been booked in their Round of 16 win over Paraguay. If he gets booked against Morocco and France qualify, he will be suspended for their FIFA World Cup semi-final clash.

France had appealed this decision, especially after FIFA suspended USA striker Folarin Balogun's red card. However, Didier Deschamps has confirmed that their appeal was denied. He said (h/t ESPN):

Michael Olise has been exceptional for France at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He has already provided five assists in five appearances and put in impeccable performances.

He came into the tournament on the back of an excellent season with Bayern Munich. He recorded 22 goals and 31 assists in 52 games across competitions, helping them win a domestic treble.

Michael Olise has become a superstar following his recent performances for club and country. While he has played second fiddle to Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe, his impact hasn't gone unnoticed.

Former France left-back Patrice Evra heaped praise on the 24-year-old, telling GOAL:

Olise has scored seven goals and provided nine assists in 22 games for France. If they beat Morocco in the quarter-finals, they will face either Spain or Belgium in the semi-finals.
