France’s Didier Deschamps equalled Germany’s Helmut Schon for most matches managed in FIFA World Cup history on Thursday as Les Bleus take on Morocco in the quarterfinal at the Boston Stadium.
Deschamps is now level with Schon at 25 games and has the chance to overtake the latter if France progresses further.
Deschamps, who took over as the head coach in 2012 and managed 185 matches, is set to step down at the end of this tournament.
Under his tenure, France won the 2018 World Cup and managed runner-up finishes the following edition and in the 2016 European Championships.
Schon coached Germany to the 1974 World Cup on home soil, while finishing runner-up in 1966 and in third place in 1970.
