Centre-back Marc Guehi returned to training ahead of England’s World Cup quarterfinal on Saturday against Norway as he tries to overcome a hamstring strain he suffered in the win over Mexico.

Guehi played no part in the final training session in Kansas City before the team flew to Miami for the game, but England coach Thomas Tuchel remains hopeful that he will be able to play.

The 25-year-old Manchester City defender was seen walking around the pitch at England’s Swope Soccer training base on Thursday but did not join in with the team training sessions.

There was some positive news, however, after the team touched down in Miami as Guehi participated in the training session at Inter Miami’s Fort Lauderdale base.

The loss of Guehi would be an additional blow to England’s defence after Jarell Quansah was banned for two matches as a result of the red card he received in the 3-2 victory against the Mexicans in the last 16.

Rightback Reece James, too, was back on the grass after missing the last few games due to injury.
