New Delhi: The 2026 FIFA World Cup final is bringing out the biggest stars, and not just on the pitch. Before the world’s best football players fight for the trophy, a group of international artists will take over the stadium with music, famous celebrity appearances, and a first-ever halftime show.
Before the winners get their trophy at New York’s New Jersey Stadium on July 19, fans will witness a slew of performances, celebrity appearances, and cultural shows, with FIFA promising a final event that mixes football, music, and worldwide entertainment.
The final game starts at 11 pm, but the fun will begin much earlier, around 9:30 pm. The closing ceremony is planned to start around 90 minutes before the game, celebrating the journey of 48 teams across three host countries – the United States, Canada, and Mexico – and 16 host cities.
And FIFA is not stopping there. The organisation has asked fans attending the final to arrive early, suggesting that the crowd will also play a big part in the opening celebrations.
Leading the closing ceremony lineup is Grammy-nominated rapper and singer Post Malone, who will be the main star for the pre-match celebrations.
Shakira will return to the FIFA World Cup stage after her famous football song performances, including her 2010 hit “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa).”
The famous Venezuelan conductor will bring a classical music part to the star-packed show.
The PS 22 choir from Staten Island, New York, will join Coldplay for a special performance, adding a local touch to the worldwide event.
Fans can also expect appearances from loved Sesame Street characters during the celebrations.
The final weekend will also show appearances from several entertainment stars, including:
FIFA has not confirmed the exact parts each celebrity will play. The halftime show will also help FIFA’s Global Citizen Education Fund, which wants to raise $100 million to give more education and sports opportunities to children all over the world.
With football’s biggest prize ready to be won and a concert-style lineup taking over the stadium, the 2026 World Cup final is ready to be more than just a game – it is a worldwide entertainment event.
