Spain will take on Argentina in the highly-anticipated final of FIFA World Cup 2026 in New Jersey on Sunday.
La Roja dispatched off France 2-0 in the semifinal while the defending champion produced a memorable comeback against England to reach the summit clash.
The two sides will meet each other for the first time since an international friendly in 2018 in Riyadh.
Spain made light work of La Albiceleste on that day with Isco’s hat-trick spurring the team to a 6-1 demolition. Giovanni Lo Celso, Nicholas Tagliafico, Lautaro Martinez, Leandro Paredes and Nicholas Otamendi are the surviving Argentina players from that loss in the current squad.
The clocks have to be wound back quite a lot to reach the last World Cup encounter between the current finalists. The meeting came in the 1966 edition when a brace from Luis Artime helped Argentina win 2-1.
Overall, Spain leads the overall head-to-head 3-2 against Argentina.
