Inter Miami are considering a move to sign Cape Verde's FIFA World Cup star Vozinha as a new teammate of Lionel Messi's, according to reports. The 40-year-old goalkeeper is a free agent and enjoyed a dazzling campaign at the Mundial with his country this summer.

According to Marca (via ESPN), Vozinha is a name on the shortlist of the Herons for a new goalkeeper this summer, following his impressive tournament in the USA. The experienced goalkeeper left Portuguese second division side GD Chaves at the end of the 2025-26 season following the expiry of his contract.

Lionel Messi's Inter Miami have gained a reputation for making shrewd additions in the transfer market, particularly targeting experienced stars. The likes of Messi and Luis Suarez are on their books, and a move for Casemiro is lined up after his Manchester United exit this summer.

Vozinha earned global acclaim for his performances with Cape Verde at the FIFA World Cup, keeping two clean sheets in four games for the Blue Sharks. They were eventually eliminated by Lionel Messi's Argentina after a nail-biting clash in which the Inter Miami captain praised the goalkeeper for his performance.

Through his performances at the tournament, Vozinha has enjoyed benefits on and off the pitch. His social media following exploded, and a number of different sides are looking to sign him this summer in Brazil and the USA.

Inter Miami have Dayne St. Clair, Luis Barraza, and Rocco Rios Novo as their first-team goalkeepers after signing all three permanently for the start of the 2026 season. They would need to sell at least one of them to sign Vozinha, and changes could be underway behind the scenes in the goalkeeping department.

Lionel Messi played a key role as Argentina claimed a second successive 3-2 win to qualify for the quarter-final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The 39-year-old scored one goal and assisted another against Egypt to set up a meeting with Switzerland in the last eight.

Messi started the game in Atlanta and saw his team go two goals down thanks to strikes from Yasser Ibrahim and Mostafa Zico. He inspired his team with a goal and assist in four minutes to get them back level at 2-2.

Enzo Fernandez headed home a stoppage time winner for La Albiceleste, keeping them in the FIFA World Cup in stunning fashion. They won a match in which they have trailed by two goals in the competition for the first time after losing 13 previous matches like that in the past.
