Hyderabad, July 16: Nearly Rs. one crore worth of handloom goods are to be exported to America by October, by a new joint sector company formed here to-day by the Andhra Pradesh State Textile Development Corporation and an American firm floated by Indian citizens called India Fashions Incorporated Limited.
The Minister for Handlooms, Mr. K.V. Kesavulu, told newsmen here to-day that the firm had entered into a deal with a chain departmental store called Sears for selling Indian-made handloom shirts and other handloom material there.
Half of the share in the new capital would be invested by some of the Telugu-speaking Indian citizens living in the U.S.
Two representatives of India Fashions, Mr. Sastri and Mr. Mohan had a discussion with the Minister and the Secretary to Government in the Industries Department, Mr. S. R. Ramamurty, here to-day and finalised details of the agreement to be signed by them shortly.
Mr. Kesavulu said the new company would eliminate middlemen and have direct dealings with the American departmental store.
