The Fast Track Special Court for POCSO cases in Jagtial on Wednesday sentenced five accused in a gang rape case involving a minor girl to life imprisonment.

    The court also imposed a fine of ₹ 20,000 on each convict and directed that the victim be paid ₹12 lakh as compensation. The verdict was delivered by the Principal District and Sessions Judge (FAC), Fast Track Special Court for POCSO cases, C. Ratna Padmavathi. Following the trial, the court found the accused Lokini Rajesh, 22, D. Saikumar, 21, M. Anil Kumar, 19, K. Shiva, 19, and K Venkatesh, 22, guilty in the minor girl’s gang rape case reported under the limits of Metpally police station in October 2020. The court sentenced each of them to life imprisonment.

    In a statement, Jagtial Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar appreciated the Special Public Prosecutor, the investigating officers, and other police personnel for their commendable efforts, which led to the conviction of the accused.
