Four persons were killed and another sustained grievous injuries after the car they were travelling in rammed into a lorry on National Highway-16 near Sattaravu Junction in Anandapuram on the outskirts of Visakhapatnam on Sunday (July 19, 2026).
According to preliminary information, the car, which was travelling from Anantapur to Srikakulam district, crashed into the lorry, resulting in a severe impact. Four occupants of the car died on the spot, while another person suffered serious injuries and was shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Anandapuram police rushed to the accident spot. The bodies of the deceased were shifted for post-mortem examination.
A case has been registered, and police have begun an investigation into the cause of the accident, whether factors such as overspeeding, poor visibility or driver error contributed to the collision.
The identities of the deceased are yet to be officially established. Further details are awaited.
