Three members of a family were found dead at their residence in Kottigepalya under the Kamakshipalya police station limits in Bengaluru on Saturday morning. A fourth family member, a 34-year-old man identified as Prashanth, was also found dead at the house in what police believe to be a suspected case of suicide.
According to the police, the other three deceased have been identified as Prashanth’s mother Mangalamma (55), his grandmother Nanjamma (65) and maternal uncle Satish (50).

Police said their preliminary investigation suggests that Prashanth is suspected to have fatally attacked the three family members before his death.
The Kamakshipalya Police visited the scene and initiated an investigation. Forensic experts also examined the premises as part of the inquiry.
Police said Prashanth, a driver by profession, lived with his parents, grandmother and maternal uncle. Mangalamma was employed in a garment factory, Nanjamma worked as a civic worker and Satish was a plumber.

Bengaluru West Division Deputy Commissioner of Police Yatheesh N. said the investigation is ongoing and all aspects of the case are being examined. He added that investigators are also looking into reports that Prashanth had mental health issues.
Prashanth’s father, Chikkanna, said there had been no argument in the family the previous night and that he had left home for work on the morning of July 11.
The incident came to light after neighbours living on the first floor alerted the police after hearing unusual noises from inside the house. When police personnel arrived and forced open the door, they found the bodies of two women lying in pools of blood with multiple injuries. A third body was found inside another room, while Prashanth was found hanging.
According to the police, preliminary findings suggest that the three victims were assaulted with a sharp-edged weapon before Prashanth allegedly died by suicide.
Chikkanna told the police that his son, despite having occasional anger issues, generally led a normal life. He also stated that Prashanth frequently quarrelled with his mother over trivial matters.
Police are questioning relatives and neighbours and examining forensic evidence to establish the circumstances that led to the tragedy.
