Inspired by the real-life story of Jugend Rettet, this drama follows a group of young activists from Berlin who raise money to buy an old rescue ship. Their mission is to save refugees attempting to cross the Mediterranean Sea. However, their humanitarian effort soon turns into a legal and moral battle that forces them to question justice, law and their own beliefs. 23,000 Lives features an ensemble cast and premieres on Netflix on July 17.
