Carson Hocevar gave NASCAR fans a chance to swap their driver merchandise for a fresh No. 77 shirt at EchoPark Speedway.

The Spire Motorsports driver announced the offer on social media ahead of Sunday night's Quaker State 400 Available at Walmart NASCAR Cup Series race, saying the first 77 people who brought a different active driver's shirt to his merch trailer would receive one of his shirts for free.

Fans reacted to Hocevar's trade idea, which started at noon near the merch trailer, calling it creative but some questioned the tactic.

A fan shared a picture of himself wearing the Hocevar shirt after the trade, he wrote:

Some took a different view and joked about him trying too hard to win attention.

Meanwhile, Hocevar qualified the No. 77 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet 14th in single-car qualifying on Saturday. The Cup race at EchoPark Speedway is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. ET on Sunday, June 12.

Carson Hocevar's free T-shirt trade offer at EchoPark Speedway caught plenty of attention but NASCAR reporter Toby Christie raised questions about the idea.

He questioned why someone would give up their driver's shirt for a Hocevar shirt.

Former Spire Motorsports NASCAR Cup driver Corey Lajoie reacted to the same and wrote:

Carson Hocevar's free T-shirt trade comes after his run-in with Zane Smith at Chicagoland. He had also responded to the incident with his usual humor during a Twitch stream, where he joked about Smith's T-shirt sales being low.

Meanwhile, Smith had a more critical reaction to the contact last week.
