Ritual of Cleansing is an important Grim Dawn quest in the Fangs of Asterkarn DLC, because it’s setting up the final battle of the expansion. You’ll be technically completing three different quests as a part of Ritual of Cleansing. There are three people who are working towards the Ritual of Cleansing, and they each need very specific items.

Two of these will be incredibly simple to do, and the third could be frustrating unless spawns are with you. Ritual of Cleansing is a Grim Dawn quest that will require you to head to other DLC areas, so that explains why you need the other DLC to take part in this expansion. Here’s what you need to know.

After you finish Source of Corruption in Grim Dawn: Fangs of Asterkarn, you can pick up Ritual of Cleansing in the High Chieftain’s hut. She’ll request you help three people (Koryn Kearthurn, Talgir, Witra) acquire the items we need to actually perform the ritual, and keep this region safe, once and for all.

That means three different quests, and you can complete them in any order you please. Go and speak to the people below, just south of the High Chieftain’s hut, and accept their requests. You can pick them up one at a time, or just grab them all at once, whichever you prefer.

    (Progress starts at 7:13)

To begin Beating Heart of the Void, head to the second Rift in the Dread Wastes (Outside of Tamarog, the Black Citadel). There are a trio of Blood Basins in the building that you need to interact with. You’ll offer Blood of Ch’thon to each of these, which drops from the local mobs. I already had these handy from killing enemies in the Black Citadel and Dread Wastes.

The first Blood Basin is right to the east as soon as you enter the building. Then just explore the building proper. I found the next one to the northwest, and then resume going southwest, into the building, and across the wood bridge. If you go southwest just a bit further, you’ll get yet another Blood Basin. From here, it’s a very short walk south, to enter the World’s Tear.

This is a sort of long dungeon, and in my experience, I just wandered north/north east as much as I could. There are lots of powerful Hero enemies in here, and groups to wade your way through. I was level 100 going in here, and most of the regular enemies were 101-102, so they shouldn’t be too much harder.

You’ll find a door to the next part of this dungeon far to the northwest where you will then contend with Naddo the Anointed, a level 106 boss. This Grim Dawn boss has a few noteworthy attacks, like a very large ground AOE that stretches out like spiderwebs, and also a cone of red blood energy bullets that fire rapidly.

You definitely want to stay out of the cone attack, because it was shredding through my HP a great deal. He also has a leap stab, but defeating him grants the Blood of the Anointed achievement. When you’re done, grab the Heart, go north to the rift, and return to Kurnhold to turn in the quest in Grim Dawn.

Surprisingly, this part of the Grim Dawn Ritual of Cleansing quest was incredibly quick. I was in and out of the region in about 2 minutes. However, this part does require that you have access to Remnants of Korvan City (Act 7).

Look to the Remnants of Korvan City section of the fast travel map. Right above the “Of”, use that Rift, and when you spawn in, follow the path south/east, until you can head north again. You want to get to the circular part of the map nearby.

There’s a part of it that juts into the middle of the circle, with a star on it, and that’s the item you need. It takes almost no time to get to. Pick up the Embers of the First Flame, and bring it back to Talgir the Druid in Grim Dawn, to wrap up this part of Ritual of Cleansing.

The Secrets of Ugdenbog quest in Grim Dawn’s Ritual of Cleansing quest is, predictably enough, in Ugdenbog. So take that rift near the Ancient Grove. You can see on the map above where we found Bargoll, the Mouldering Mound. If you’re lucky, the other two Golems you need could spawn right there. I feel like it’s unlikely.

I had to trek around this zone for quite a while. The enemy you’re looking for is the Root of Bargoll. The first one spawned near the Ancient Ruins Entrance, north of the Ugdenbog Entrance and the second was south of the Rift Entrance. The image above shows the locations where they spawned for me. Your experience could vary.

Once you’ve completed all three quests, head back to the High Chieftain’s hut in Kurnhold, and turn in Ritual of Cleansing in Grim Dawn. This will give you XP and reputation, as well as begin the quest Ascend the Roof of the World, which brings you close to the end of the story.
