The Pelican is a Rare pet in Grow a Garden that was introduced with the High Tide Harvest Event Part 2. This pet converts a random non-Summer-type fruit into a Summer-type one, adding it to your inventory. You have a chance to get it by feeding pets to Shelldon, the shellfish, near the High Tide Harvest event station near the middle of the map.

The Pelican is one of the rewards you receive upon feeding Shelldon a pet. You can offer any pet to this creature except the Pelican and the Manta Ray. Once you do so, the shellfish will randomly give you one of three different rewards: Coastal Eggs, the Pelican pet, and the Manta Ray pet. The exact odds of receiving the Pelican is 4%, which may necessitate feeding Shelldon several pets.

Note that each time you feed Shelldon, it will go on a one-hour countdown before you receive any of the three rewards. This can make trying to get a Pelican a lengthy process.

Once you get the Pelican, you add it to an active pet slot to activate its passive ability. As part of its passive, this pet can transform any non-Summer-type Fruit in your farm to a Summer-type Fruit, adding it to your inventory. The transformed Summer-type Fruit belongs to the same rarity as its pre-transformed version, meaning you won’t get a Transcendent Summer-type Fruit from a Rare non-Summer-type Fruit.

The Pelican’s usefulness is at its highest during Summer-themed events, such as the High Tide Harvest Event. Such events have players submit Summer-type Fruits to earn points and rewards. With the Pelican as an active pet, you will have a greater amount of Summer-type Fruits to submit, increasing the rewards you receive from these events.

You can get the Pelican at a 4% chance upon feeding any pet to Shelldon during the High Tide Harvest Event.
