Stefanos Tsitsipas will take on home favorite Jerome Kym in the second round of the Swiss Open 2026.
Tsitsipas faced fifth seed Ignacio Buse in the first round. Both players defended their serves pretty well for most of the first set. Tsitsipas eventually made his move in the 10th game when Buse served to stay in the set. The former top five player broke his opponent's serve to claim the set.
Buse dealt the first blow in the second set to go 4-3 up. However, Tsitsipas broke back immediately to level the score. He then bagged the next two games as well to score a 6-4, 6-4 win.
Kym faced compatriot Dylan Dietrich in the first round. The opening set went down to the wire, in which Kym came out on top in the tie-break. Dietrich turned the tables on his countryman to take the second set, courtesy of a four-game run.
The two went toe-to-toe until the end of the third set. It was Kym who had the last laugh in the end. He pipped Dietrich in yet another tie-break to register a 7-6 (3), 2-6, 7-6 (5) victory.
This will be the first meeting between them, so the head-to-head currently stands at 0-0.
(Odds via BetMGM)
Tsitsipas' first-round win over Buse marked just his second against a top 50 player on clay this season. He improved his record on the surface to 6-6 with his latest win.
Kym was tested by Dietrich but held him off to make the second round here for the second year in a row. It marked his second win on the main tour this year. He has a 9-8 record at the Challenger level this season, and made the semifinals of the Iasi Challenger, also on clay, last week.
While Tsitsipas hasn't been at his absolute best this year, he has tasted a fair amount of success on clay in the past. He has won five titles on the red dirt, along with eight runner-up finishes. Clay also gives him enough time to cover up his deficiencies, especially his backhand. Given their contrasting results this year, Tsitsipas will be favored to win this showdown.
Pick: Stefanos Tsitsipas to win in straight sets.
Tip 1: The match will have at least 18 games.
Tip 2: Tsitsipas to win at least one set with a score of 6-3.
