Ex-servicemen and retired personnel of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) in Haryana will no longer have to make repeated visits to government offices to register for welfare schemes and claim benefits, following the launch of a dedicated online portal for them and their families on Friday.
Sainik and Ardh Sainik Welfare Minister Rao Narbir Singh launched the portal at Apparel House in Sector 44, Gurugram.
The platform will enable former personnel of the BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSB and Assam Rifles to register online. Families of personnel killed or disabled in the line of duty will also be able to apply for ex gratia assistance, compassionate appointments and other welfare benefits through the portal.
Officials said the initiative was designed to bring registration and access to welfare schemes onto a single platform, reducing paperwork and the need for repeated visits to government offices.
The minister directed officials to conduct a registration drive across villages, saying eligible families should not miss out on benefits because they were either unaware of the schemes or had not registered with the department.
The Haryana government established a separate Sainik and Ardh Sainik Welfare Department in 2016 to provide dedicated welfare services to armed forces and CAPF personnel and their dependents.
War widows from different districts were also honoured at the event. Singh said the government remained committed to the welfare of personnel who had served in the country's security forces and to supporting their families.
CRPF Kadarpur DIG Parma Sivan said Haryana contributes a large number of personnel to the armed forces and CAPFs. He also highlighted the role of the central forces in tackling internal security challenges, including Naxalism.
