A Haryana Police constable was killed and an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) sustained critical injuries after a speeding truck rammed into a seized cattle-laden vehicle on the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway near Goyla village in Nuh district on Thursday morning.

The accident occurred when the CIA, Punhana team was taking action against a vehicle loaded with cattle that had been seized.

According to the police, the Punhana CIA team had received a tip-off about a vehicle transporting cattle. Acting on the information, the police seized the vehicle and began moving it for further action.

However, it developed a technical fault on the KMP Expressway and had to be parked on the roadside.

The police personnel were standing behind the vehicle when a speeding truck coming from the Manesar side rammed into the stationary cattle-laden vehicle. The impact was so severe that Constable Girish and ASI Mukesh Phogat were hit by the truck.

Girish died on the spot, while ASI Mukesh Phogat sustained critical injuries. Another policeman, Sahil, had a narrow escape.

On receiving information about the accident, police teams from the Mohammadpur Ahir and Dhulawat Traffic police stations, the CIA, Tauru, and other officials rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations.

The injured ASI was admitted to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram, where his condition is stated to be critical. An FIR has been registered at the Mohammadpur Ahir police station.

“All aspects of the accident are being investigated. We have seized both the vehicle loaded with cattle and the truck that caused the collision. A further probe is underway,” a Nuh Police spokesperson said.
