Fans have reacted to a video of Erling Haaland mocking England international Elliott Anderson during the FIFA World Cup quarter-final clash between Norway and the Three Lions.

With the score tied at 1-1, Norway had a goal ruled out in the 55th minute. Torbjorn Heggem thought he had given the Vikings a 2-1 lead, but his goal was overturned on review for a push by Haaland on Anderson. Later in the match, a displeased Erling Haaland was seen in an animated exchange with England defender John Stones.

The striker pushed Stones lightly, and seemingly suggested that Anderson had gone down too easily.

Notably, Haaland and Anderson are now teammates after Manchester City signed the latter last month for a record British transfer of £116 million from Nottingham Forest. The footage, shared on X (formerly Twitter), has since sparked plenty of reactions.

A third echoed the same sentiment:

Despite Norway’s valiant effort, England advanced to the semi-finals with a 2-1 victory after 120 minutes.

After the defeat to England, Erling Haaland expressed disbelief at the decision to punish him for a challenge he considers part of the game.

The striker argued that if such physical contact is considered a foul, he should be getting a free-kick in every duel.

Despite Norway’s exit, Erling Haaland turned heads by marking his debut appearance at the tournament with seven goals. It was also the first time Norway reached the quarter-finals of the FIFA World Cup.
