Former cricketer Wasim Jaffer made a strong statement on Team India star and captain Shreyas Iyer amid the T20I series against England. The Men in Blue suffered a disappointing 125-run loss in the third T20I.

Shreyas Iyer is yet to register his first win as T20I captain, having lost four out of five games with one no result. Wasim Jaffer reckoned that he was clearly under pressure, having come in at a time when India are world champions, and having replaced a T20 World Cup-winning captain.

After the loss in the second T20I, Shreyas Iyer pointed out that one over changed the course of the game. While he did not directly take Ravi Bishnoi's name, it was an indication of the reason for the defeat. While captains are known to protect their players and play the blame game, Wasim Jaffer gave Iyer the benefit, saying that such things happen under pressure. However, he added that the star batter would realise these things with time.

Shreyas Iyer is now facing the heat after being whitewashed in his maiden series as T20I captain against Ireland, and struggling to win in England as well. Jaffer opined that we must be more patient at the moment.

India are in a must-win position now to save the series. They will have to win both the remaining games to draw level.

Wasim Jaffer reckoned that this Indian team has the potential and would bounce back. He added that one good game and a win would help them gain confidence back.

The fourth T20I will be played on Thursday, July 9, in Bristol, followed by the final match of the series on Saturday, July 11, in Southampton.
