Former India cricketer Varun Aaron has opined that Shubman Gill would be extremely disappointed with his dismissal in the second ODI against England. He highlighted that the star batter would have come into the game with the intention of scoring a hundred.

Gill scored 31 runs off 30 balls as India were bowled out for 233 in Cardiff on Thursday, July 16. England then achieved the target with four wickets and 35 balls to spare to draw level in the series.

During a discussion on JioHotstar, Aaron noted that Gill would have wanted to score a hundred in the second ODI against England after missing the milestone in the series opener due to cramps.

The former India pacer added that the 26-year-old fell prey to his own mistake.

Shubman Gill had retired hurt for a 75-ball 80 in India's six-wicket win in the first ODI against England. He smashed a Gus Atkinson delivery straight to Ben Duckett at cover in Thursday's game.

In the same discussion, former India wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel noted that Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma played contrasting knocks in the second ODI against England.

The Gujarat Titans (GT) assistant coach added that the franchise's skipper would be particularly disappointed because he failed to make the most of a good start.

Shubman Gill struck six fours during his 31-run knock. On the flip side, Rohit Sharma managed a solitary four and a six and consumed 47 deliveries for his 26 runs.
