Hugo Lloris has claimed Kylian Mbappe is a deadly striker in an opponent's penalty box ahead of the semi-final between France and Spain in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The former France international also revealed that Mbappe could destabilize a defensive setup if he's given enough room in the final third.

Speaking on the Rio Ferdinand Presents Podcast, Lloris revealed Mbappe's greatest strength on the pitch. He also claimed the forward's unique positioning, together with other creative French players around him, enables the Real Madrid striker to score goals in attack, saying:

Kylian Mbappe has been the most productive and efficient player in France's frontline at the ongoing FIFA World Cup. He has also scored eight goals and doubles as the tournament's top scorer alongside Lionel Messi.

As one of the most deadly attackers in the tournament, Spain's backline would have to keep an eye on Mbappe to win the clash and advance to the final. On the other hand, the forward will also have to be at his best against La Roja's defense, which has conceded just one goal at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

France manager Didier Deschamps has given a fitness update on Kylian Mbappe ahead of their crucial clash with Spain. He revealed that the forward is fine and fit, and he trained with the rest of his teammates in the build-up to the game.

In a press conference ahead of the game, Deschamps said (via RMC Sport on X):

Mbappe's attacking presence and prowess will be key as Les Bleus are looking to reach the FIFA World Cup final for the third consecutive time. The game between France and Spain will be played tonight, 14th July 2026.
