The body of Shubham, a resident of Chanaur village in Indora, was found lying face down in a field on Thursday evening. According to the police, a syringe suspected to have been used for injecting a synthetic narcotic was found attached to his left arm, leading investigators to suspect that he may have died due to a heroin (chitta) overdose.

After receiving information from local residents, Indora DSP Sanjiv Yadav, accompanied by a police team, reached the spot, inspected the scene and collected circumstantial evidence. Officials said the exact cause of death would be established only after the post-mortem examination and forensic analysis. The body has been sent to the Civil Hospital in Nurpur for post-mortem.

During the investigation, police recovered the deceased's mobile phone and a scooter (PB-35X-0410) from the spot. Shubham reportedly earned his livelihood by operating a sugarcane juice stall near Government College, Indora.

Investigators are now trying to determine how he reached the location, whether he was alone or accompanied by others, and the exact nature of the substance allegedly consumed. CCTV footage from nearby areas, the victim's mobile phone and other technical evidence are being examined to reconstruct the sequence of events.

Shubham, who got married a few years ago, is survived by his wife and their three-year-old son.

Confirming the incident, Nurpur ASP Dharam Chand Verma said a case has been registered and the investigation is underway from all possible angles. The death has renewed concerns among residents over the persistent spread of synthetic drugs in the border belt and the devastating impact of addiction on young lives.
