A 62-year-old tempo driver was allegedly beaten to death by his son following a family dispute in Badhehar village under the Bhoranj subdivision of Hamirpur district late on Wednesday night.
According to the police, the accused, Vijay Kumar (32), allegedly attacked his father, Rattan Chand, with a stick during a heated altercation, resulting in his death. Rattan Chand earned his livelihood by driving a tempo and was the family’s sole breadwinner.
After receiving information, the police rushed to the spot, took possession of the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. Vijay Kumar has been arrested and a case of murder has been registered against him.
During the preliminary investigation, the police also found certain circumstances warranting questioning of the deceased’s wife, who is being examined as part of the probe.
