The police arrested two men, including a history-sheeter, for allegedly assaulting a pani puri vendor with a bottle and threatening him with a knife, demanding money in Vepery.

According to the police, the complainant, Soban Yadav, 28, a native of Kosapet, runs a roadside chaat stall. On Sunday night, two men allegedly purchased samosas from the stall.

When Soban Yadav asked them to pay, the duo abused him, attacked him with an empty bottle, and threatened him with a knife, demanding money. Both of them fled the spot as members of the public gathered.

The injured vendor sustained bleeding injuries and was admitted to the Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for treatment.

Based on his complaint, the Vepery Police launched an investigation and arrested Nagaraj, 42, of Chintadripet, and Sethu alias Sethuraman, 28, of Choolai. The police also seized a knife, allegedly used in the offence.
