House of the Dragon Season 3 has delivered another suspense-filled episode, ending with one of its biggest cliffhangers yet. Episode 6 leaves the fate of Lord Corlys Velaryon hanging in the balance after a brutal ambush, sparking intense discussion among fans. With only two episodes left this season, viewers are now eagerly waiting to find out whether one of Westeros' most experienced commanders has survived or if Team Black has suffered another major blow.

For those planning to catch up, House of the Dragon Season 3 streams in India on JioHotstar. Episode 7 is scheduled to premiere on August 2, 2026, while the season finale, Episode 8, will be available on August 10, 2026, at 6:30 AM IST.

    Why does Corlys leave Driftmark?

Lord Corlys Velaryon has already cheated death once this season. During the Battle of the Gullet in Episode 1, the legendary sailor was thrown into the sea while wearing heavy armour. Despite the odds, he survived and eventually made it safely back to shore.

Episode 6 sees Corlys facing a different challenge. After a heated disagreement with Queen Rhaenyra over her refusal to legitimise his sons, he distances himself from the court and spends time on Driftmark.

His son Alyn later finds him tracking down members of the Triarchy who have reportedly been carrying out raids on the island. Alyn reminds his father that he is still needed in King's Landing as the war continues. After initially showing little interest in returning, Corlys finally agrees and prepares to leave.

Before departing, he addresses his men, signalling that it is time to head back and rejoin the conflict.

    Is Lord Corlys Velaryon dead?

The biggest talking point from Episode 6 comes in its closing moments.

Just as Corlys is preparing to leave Driftmark, Bold Jon Roxton, acting on behalf of Lord Ormund, arrives with a group of armed men. Corlys immediately realises that something is wrong and questions their intentions.

Moments later, he draws his sword, but before he can react further, one attacker jumps on him from behind and tightens a weapon around his neck. Another armed man approaches as Corlys struggles to fight back.

However, the episode cuts away before revealing what happens next. Importantly, the series never confirms Corlys' death. The final shot still shows him resisting the attack, leaving his fate completely uncertain. Rather than showing a confirmed death, the episode intentionally ends on a cliffhanger designed to keep audiences guessing until the next chapter.

Many viewers also believe there is another possibility. Instead of killing Corlys immediately, his attackers may choose to keep him alive. As one of Team Black's most influential commanders and the head of House Velaryon, Corlys would be an extremely valuable prisoner.

Capturing him could weaken Queen Rhaenyra's forces while giving Team Green an important bargaining chip during the escalating civil war. For that reason, a hostage scenario currently appears just as likely as a fatal ending.

Episode 7 and Episode 8 release schedule

With Corlys' fate still unknown, all eyes are now on the final two episodes of the season. Episode 7 will premiere on August 2, 2026, continuing the story immediately after the shocking cliffhanger. The season finale, Episode 8, is scheduled to arrive on August 10, 2026, with Indian viewers able to stream it from 6:30 AM IST on JioHotstar.

The remaining episodes are expected to focus on the consequences of Corlys' ambush, the growing conflict between Team Black and Team Green, and the next stage of the battle for the Iron Throne.

As the season heads toward its conclusion, Episode 6 has successfully raised the stakes. Stay tuned!
