India will be out to mount its latest challenge at the Commonwealth Games when the 23rd edition of competition begins on July 23 in Glasgow. 

    The last edition was held in Birmingham in 2022, where India won 61 medals – 22 gold, 16 silver and 23 bronze. 

    Wrestling was the most successful discipline, with India winning 12 medals (6 gold, 1 silver, 5 bronze) and weightlifting not far behind on 10 medals (3 gold, 3 silver, 4 bronze). 

    Sanket Sargar was India’s first medalist with his silver in the men’s 55kg weightlifting event, while Mirabai Chanu was the first gold medalist with victory in the women’s 49kg event.
