In 2003, Brock Lesnar became a notable name in the industry when he won the Royal Rumble match and captured the Undisputed WWE Championship from Kurt Angle in the main event of WrestleMania 19. The victory over the Olympic gold medalist solidified The Beast Incarnate as a major player in the industry for years to come. However, Lesnar botched a shooting star press.

In a video on WWE Vault, Kurt Angle reflected on the moment when Brock Lesnar botched the shooting star press, which could've broken his neck. Angle was concerned for the then-rising star in the industry, but The Beast Incarnate finished the match. Regardless of the unfortunate spot, the legend realized that Lesnar was made for this industry and deserved the position at the top.

Angle and Lesnar haven't faced each other inside the ring in nearly two decades.

Earlier this year, the audience assumed Brock Lesnar had retired from in-ring competition when he lost to Oba Femi at WrestleMania 42. However, it was a ruse by Lesnar and Paul Heyman, as they returned to the red brand the following month and attacked The Ruler.

After getting a win over the two-time NXT Champion at Clash in Italy, The Beast Incarnate went on hiatus and returned to the weekly product following Femi's King of the Ring tournament win. The Ruler gave up his title match for Brock Lesnar, and the two will meet in a Hell in a Cell match at WWE SummerSlam 2026 in Minnesota.
