Max Holloway has come out in defense of his wife, Alessa Quizon, after an interview clip led many fans to believe she had ignored him for years.

    The former UFC featherweight champion took to social media to provide context after alleged edited clips from a recent interview spread across MMA circles. In the original interview, Quizon revealed that Holloway had messaged her for five years before she eventually replied. She joked that she finally fell into the "trap" after reaching out to him for help finding a local gym.

    Holloway explained that the narrative being shared online left out a key detail. He took to X and wrote:

    Despite the recent narrative, Holloway and Quizon have gone on to become one of the most respected couples in combat sports. Both grew up on the west side of Oahu, Hawaii, and their relationship began in 2020 after Quizon's previous engagement had ended. Holloway proposed later that year before the pair married in a beachside ceremony in Hawaii in April 2022.
